Difference stainless steel 304 and 304N
304 is very common in daily life,Their composition is the most noticeable difference between stainless steel 304 and 304N. Stainless steel 304 is an austenitic grade alloy, while 304N is a nitrogen-strengthened version of the same grade.Stainless steel 304 has a minimum tensile strength of 75 ksi.while 304N has a minimum tensile strength of 85 ksi. This means that stainless steel 304N is used in construction projects such as bridges or other large-scale structures that must bear heavy loads or withstand harsh weather conditions.It is also used in other areas of the marine environments,bridges,valves, pressure vessels, chemical equipment ,dairy equipment ,nuclear vessels and food processing equipment.
Physical Properties
The density of 304N ss is 7.85 g/cm3 with a melting point between 1454°F – 1523°F (795°C – 825°C). It has good thermal conductivity with low electrical resistivity. Due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, 304N stainless steel is also highly resistant to wear and tear.
